Danger!

Do NOT go near this machine. Especially in dress shoes.

Abby and I took a walk today down a path pretty much right in our backyard. Among other things, which I’ll get to in a moment, we came across a huge machine of some sorts that seems to be used for laying asphalt. Not really sure though. It had some of the most hilarious Caution/Danger/Warning signs we’ve ever seen. We are actually thinking about trying to collect pictures like these and start a Tumblr of them. Don’t steal our idea 🙂 It’s funny how they oscillate between Warning!, Danger!, and Caution! Have some consistency, people!

Ouch. Right up in the crotch.

These fingers look like they were already mangled and the machine is just adding insult to injury.

We needed the arrow to show us which way the thing is going because we couldn't tell by the body positioning.

Aaaaand we've got some fingers which have clearly been cut off. Not okay.

To reiterate – don't wear dress shoes while operating this thing.

And lastly – these things can tip over even on a shallow gradient.

During our walk, we found a boardwalk about half a mile from our house which we’ve never even know was there.

I befriended a little skink.

I tried to sneak up on this heron and this was as close as I could get.

But the highlight of the walk was when I looked up in the distance and saw what I thought was a black plastic bag fluttering in the breeze.

Turns out, though, it was a gopher tortoise! He was heading right down the path toward us.

He was the coolest. We noticed he had a friend, too. One with a strange appetite.

This guy was TOTALLY EATING DOG POOP.

Oh well. I’m sure there are some good nutrients in there. They eventually showed off where their holes were. IMG_1167

And that was our walk.   Oh yeah, and my wife dunked a basketball (ball not pictured).
